Hearth's Warming by IG-64 Hearth's Warming by IG-64
NOTE: This image is available in 8k (33 megapixel) resolution, so you can zoom in close to see things in greater detail. Be sure to download the full res or check out a zoomable version here

This scene combines two of my favorite things: ponies and Christmas (or Hearth's Warming, close enough.) It was originally supposed to be a quick project but it became much more involved, as my projects tend to do. 8k resolution is massive and requires a ton of detail to work. But, it was fun to work on something cozy. :)

Thanks to my mom for providing some awesome paintings for the plates. You can see those in full quality here: sta.sh/22566m8dbr4u

Stereo 3D versions here: sta.sh/2akk9zunxi8

I'm guessing you used Filmic in blender in order to get so much detail in the shadows?

If you didn't than holy cow!! You REALLY outdid yourself

I don't use Blender so I'm not sure what that is. I did some minor touch ups in Photoshop but it's mostly straight out of the renderer.

I was thinking after i sent that message how I was remembering you using a different render program. In short filmic is a color manager that helps with dynamic range

The final render took about 10 days. There are about 90 lights in the scene so almost half of that was just lighting calc.

Wow! That's a lot of lights! I suppose that's why the tree looks so good. :D
